چکیده

Purpose: Non-contrast magnetic resonance angiography (NC-MRA) is an alternative diagnostic tool for assessment of peripheral vascular disease in patients with impaired kidney function. While peripheral NC-MRA based on subtraction of two turbo-spin-echo acquisitions may benefit from increased signal-to-noise ratio at 3T, it also suffers from signal loss in the right femoral artery due to previously described radially symmetric B1 + inhomogeneities, which, in other parts of the body, have been shown to be minimized using high-permittivity dielectric pads. The purpose of this study was to utilize high-permittivity dielectric padding to reduce NC-MRA signal loss associated with B1 inhomogeneity at 3T.

High acceleration quiescent-interval single shot magnetic resonance angiography at 3T in patients with peripheral artery disease

Background Quiescent-Interval Single Shot (QISS) non-contrast MR angiography (QISS-MRA) is an emerging technique with growing evidence for its use in the evaluation of peripheral artery disease (PAD) at 1.5T [1,2]. The use of 3 Tesla MRI scans is becoming more common in clinical practice and offers the main advantage of roughly double the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) than that of 1.5 Tesla MRI. ...

Comparison of non-contrast fresh blood imaging and quiescent inflow single-shot imaging at abdominal/pelvic station at 3T

Background Despite increasing application of non-contrast techniques Fresh Blood Imaging (FBI) and Quiescent Inflow Single-Shot (QISS) in the evaluation of peripheral arterial disease (PAD), imaging of abdominal/pelvic station remains a challenge. B0 and B1 inhomogeneity, motion artefacts and poor ECG trigger may diminish the image quality and reduce the diagnostic performance. In this study, w...

The diagnostic value of non-contrast enhanced quiescent interval single shot (QISS) magnetic resonance angiography at 3T for lower extremity peripheral arterial disease, in comparison to CT angiography

BACKGROUND The high incidence of renal insufficiency in patients with Peripheral Arterial Disease raises the concern for nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) with respect to contrast enhanced MRA. The risk of NSF is eliminated with non-contrast enhanced magnetic resonance angiography. The purpose of the current study is to compare image quality and diagnostic performance of non-contrast enhanced...

Non-contrast peripheral angiography at 3T using QISS: improving venous suppression

Background Quiescent Interval Single Shot (QISS) has emerged as a robust technique for non-enhanced angiography of peripheral arteries (1). It has been clinically validated with contrast enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) (2,3). Both of these validation studies were performed at 1.5T field strength. Although the initial experience with QIS...

3T versus 1.5T MR angiography in peripheral arterial occlusive disease: an equivalence trial in comparison with digital subtraction angiography

Background Contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CE-MRA) has evolved into a reliable imaging technique for peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD). Recent advances in MRI technology offer large homogeneous magnetic fields with comparable Field-of-Views at 3T and 1.5T, allowing visualization of the complete runoff vascular tree by single-injection 3-station (pelvic/thigh/calf) moving-table CE-M...
